One to write home about..

I've been living on Vancouver Island for a couple years now, and have been fortunate enough to travel around a bit & sample some of the breaks that are at least accessible by 4x4 &/ boat. On a recent such trip to a spot at the end of some crazy logging roads with puddles that would sink most cars, we found some gems at the end of the hike, super glassy 3-4ft & sunny with rainbows everywhere.. So Marcus took this photo that afternoon & sent me the pic. I am so stoked as it is a great reminder of the good feeling I was blessed with that day. There's nothing quite like perfect surf when you finally get it.

Merry Christmas!

The Dance of Life

Distant drums capture us, I prick my inner ear. The leather thudding pulls on me & I feel like I want to get near. I lean into its rhythm & perceive a certain something, this current running through me, this electricity in my bones. The past is loud these days. Eventually enough though, we pool like mercury & like birds of a feather, we rock together just to chase ourselves as deep into these moments as we can so we can get closer to that pulse rippling out from the sun, beating on the Earth, warming up my heart & setting my brain ablaze & sending that fire on down to the end of my spine on down to the end of the line that follows the lines I read, the lines I write, the lines I sing, the lines I draw, nearer to it all.

Let it out, let it in
Kick it up & lock it down
Dream it up & breathe it back out..

Starling..

This here, a demo production of GARVIES latest track "Starling".
Written by Daz Collins & featuring on bass & vocals.
Produced by Johnny Marks & featuring on guitars.
Recorded in Tofino BC 2014/04/20 (in A=432Hz)
This is the latest mix from Johnny as at 2014/06/16.

Serenade the dawn with your tongue.
Give it all you've got.
All the way down to those warbling notes.
Ride back up to the heights.
Use the length of your throat,
and sing like you're falling.
Lets row that boat
deep into the morning,
Starling.

Folding my wings around your tenderness;
licking your talk while you've been sucking my sentences;
flicking your locks while you've been chuckling, my little Empress.

Salute the sunset with yourself held high.
Reach through the sky and embrace the night.
Feel the stars, they're tingling.
Spectrum swim up my spine,
right through my mind & like roots from the core,
we unfurl & explore.
Starling, have we met before?

Starling....

Folding my wings around your tenderness;
licking your talk while you've been sucking my sentences;
flicking your locks while you've been chuckling, my little Empress.
Spreading your wings around my gentleness;
licking your talk while you've been sucking my sentences;
picking your locks while we've been loving it, endlessly.

A CD Cover Design..

I was recently commissioned to design an album cover for Canadian grunge-rock band Broken Caliber.

Here are some photos from the process from pencil to shelf!
